Does 432 Hz actually sound different?
Short answer: yes, but it is subtle, and it is easier to feel over time than to spot in a quick test. Here is what is really going on, and how to judge it fairly for yourself.
432 Hz tuning lowers the reference pitch of a track by about 1.8%, roughly 32 cents. For scale, a single piano key step is 100 cents, so this is less than a third of a semitone. It is a real change, but a small one.
The difference is audible but subtle. On a two-second A/B test many people are unsure. Over a full song or album, more people notice the lower reference feeling a little warmer and less sharp. Whether you prefer it is personal.
Why it is hard to spot, easy to feel
Your ear is not great at judging absolute pitch from memory. Played one after another with a gap, 432 Hz and 440 Hz can be tough to tell apart. The effect shows up differently: as a feeling that builds over a longer listen. Sit with an album at 432 Hz for a while and it often reads as gentler.
